Hey Everyone,
Just a very quick update on my end... No more "Excuses!"
Anthony and I are starting work on the boat tomorrow, and the correct name (Reel Class) was put on the new Albemarle by Chris from Sign Brothers sign company last weekend. She looks great!
Weekend dates in May and June are filling up, but there of course are still some good dates available.
Some things to remember for SPRING striper fishing: *If you want to jig for BIG stripers & bluefish, MAY is the month. (We had fish to 30# last year on jigs) *If you want to fish live bunker, the window from the end of May (or whenever the bunker arrive) into early July is the window to put a real slob in the boat! (Top fish last year was 42#, and we had another 36 over 30# last year!)
Once we get rolling in June, we will be mixing the striper fishing with seabass fishing. Since we have what appears to be a couple of narrow windows for Seabass fishing (Late May into early August, then September into early October) we will be looking to cash in on these tasty treats WHENEVER we can.
Some FTYP trips have been posted on the website, and several are filled or are close to being filled already. The dates and the status of the trips are as follows:
Monday 6/28: 5 spots available Tuesday 6/29: FILLED Wednesday 6/30: FILLED Monday 7/5: FILLED Wednesday 7/7: 5 Spots Available Friday 7/9: 4 Spots Available Saturday 7/10: FILLED Monday 7/12: 6 spots available Wednesday 7/14: 5 Spots Available Friday 7/16: 4 Spots Available Monday 7/19: 5 Spots Available Wednesday 7/21: FILLED Monday 8/2: 6 Spots Available Wednesday 8/4: 6 Spots Available Friday 8/6: 2 Spots Available Monday 8/9: 6 Spots Available Wednesday 8/11: 6 Spots Available Friday 8/13: 2 Spots Available Monday 8/16: FILLED Friday 8/20: 2 Spots Available Monday 8/23: 6 Spots Available Friday 8/27: 3 Spots Available A side from those open boat trips, I just posted 2 "Opener" Bass-Saturday's in early May (5/1 and 5/8) which will be JIGGING trips targeting stripers. We will also carry clams on the boat as a last resort if we can't get a jig bite going.
If anyone is interested in doing any flounder fishing, please let me know as well. A few guys have contacted me about getting a trip together, but as of right now I'm on the fence as to what to tell them mostly b/c I'm guessing interest will be low with the 2 fish limit. I did post OB and charter rates for flounder fishing if anyone is interested.
Next newsletter will be in roughly 2 weeks as I will have a good idea of where we are with the boat, and when we will get her in the water!
~Tight Lines,
Capt Allen Gonzalez
